Cycle through the dunes to the sea, or ride endlessly through Schoorl Dunes National Park?
The pride of the region and probably the reason you’re here. You can cycle endlessly through the park and marvel at the heath fields and dune tops. Peace is everything here.
Located near the beach exit of Schoorl, De Kerf has allowed seawater to flow into the dunes since 1997. This dune valley has become rich with flora and fauna—definitely a must-see.
If you spot small footprints in the sand, they’ve surely been made by gnomes! Put on your red hat and go search for them. There are many tasks to complete, keeping you busy all afternoon. Tickets available at the Schoorl Dunes Visitor Center.
This beautiful church has stood since 1639. The surrounding street is known as the Kerkbrink. The white houses were once a prison and town hall. Both the houses and the church are national monuments.
This dike starts at Camperduin and stretches for 5.5 kilometers. In 2015, the creation of new dunes and a lagoon began here. It’s a stunning example of human intervention in nature.
Just a short walk from the center of Bergen, Museum Kranenburgh is home to beautiful art exhibitions. The building itself is magnificent, and the surrounding garden is a peaceful place to spend hours.
This is where the Schoorl Dunes National Park begins. Run by volunteers and forest rangers, you’ll learn all about the forest, dunes, and beach in every season. Afterward, enjoy a coffee or sandwich at IJgenweis.
Located by the lagoon at Camperduin beach, the wooden play ship “De Slag bij Camperduin” is a fantastic play structure with ropes, climbing frames, hanging bridges, cannons, slides, and a steering wheel. This area used to be the site of a real shipwreck—let your imagination run wild and be a pirate!
Everyone knows the Klimduin! It’s as iconic to Schoorl as the Eiffel Tower is to Paris (okay, maybe not quite, but close!). At 51 meters high, the dune presents a challenge, but the soft sand makes the climb tricky. We dare you: who will reach the top first for a pancake reward?
Take a short ride along Schoorlse Zeeweg to find this hidden gem: Bospaviljoen de Berenkuil. Here, you’ll hear nothing but the birds. Enjoy a meal or drink after a strenuous bike ride, and continue on to Bergen aan Zee or Schoorl aan Zee.
Not much has changed here since it was built in 1913 as the ‘Vrouwtje van Duin.’ For pancakes and pizza, this is the perfect place. There’s no fancy stuff here—just lots of fun for the kids. Whether you’re seven or seventy, Duinvermaak is full of good times and memories for generations.
Whether at the edge of Klimduin or just a stone’s throw away in the center of Schoorl, you’ll find plenty of terraces here. As soon as the sun comes out, the chairs are ready for their temporary owners. Enjoy a drink and a bite at the most beautiful spot on the coast—whether it’s a pancake or a six-course meal! The restaurants in Schoorl cook for the whole family.
